GP - Gender Protection in PSOs

DURATION: 2 weeks

Special course that provides specialized training for Senior Police Officers, devoted to managing gender-related activities and tasks in Peace Operations (POs).

COURSE AIM:

The course aims to enhance professional skills in managing gender-related practical cases, with particular reference to those aspects evidenced by UNSCRs’ 1325 (2000) and 2272 (2016), as well as by other relevant Security Council Resolutions.

PARTICIPANTS:

UP to 20 international Senior Officers in the rank of Colonel, Lt Colonel, Major or their equivalent.

COURSE SUBJECTS:

  • increasing the knowledge and understanding of gender-related issues and their different effects, consequences and implications in a multidimensional POs;
  • developing ability to challenge biased gender , discriminatory behaviours and to apply this knowledge  in the day to day workplace;
  • being aware of the best practices already acquired by relevant international organizations on this specific subject matter;
  • developing the necessary skills to conduct Conflict-Related Sexual and Gender-Based Violence (CR/SGBV), Traffic on Human Being (THB) and related investigations in a multidimensional peacekeeping operation, inclusive of victim assistance.
