Brig. Gen. Andrea Paris was born in Turin, on 10th April 1967.
After attending the Military School “Nunziatella” in Naples, from 1983 to 1986, he received his commission as 2nd Lieutenant with the Carabinieri in 1988, as a graduate of the Military Academy.
Following graduation, he attended a two-year specialization course at the Carabinieri Officers’ College, from 1988 – 1990.
His military career includes domestic operational assignments in Vicenza (1990 – 1992), Trapani (1992 – 1995), Riva del Garda (1995 - 1998), Genova (1998 – 2001), Torre Annunziata (2008 – 2011) and Brindisi (2012 – 2015) as a sub-unit and unit commanding officer as well as two tours of duty as a staff officer at the Carabinieri General Headquarters (2001 – 2005, 2007 – 2008), in the areas of strategic planning, doctrine and international cooperation, and an assignment to the Carabinieri Officers College as a teacher (2005 – 2006).
He also served in the operations UNMIBH IPTF in Bosnia and Herzegovina (1997 – 1998), NATO Task Force “Harvest” in Macedonia (2001) and Iraqi Freedom/Antica Babilonia (2004). In 2007, He spent a six months tour of duty as seconded national expert to the EU Police Unit of the Secretariat of the Council, for the planning of Operation “EUPOL Afghanistan”.
His military education includes the Carabinieri Senior Officers Staff Course and the Higher Management course at the Joint Police Staff College, in Rome.
From 2015 to 2019, he served as the Director of the NATO Stability Policing Centre of Excellence; from 2019 to 2021 as the Deputy Chief of Department “Employment of Forces” at the Carabinieri General Headquarters, and from 2021 to 2025 he served as the Expert in security and capacity building of security forces within the Italian Delegation to the African Union, in Addis Ababa.
On 23rd October 2025, he assumed duty as the Commander of the Centre of Excellence for Stability Police Units (COESPU), in Vicenza.
Brig. Gen. Paris holds a Master of Law and a Master of Security Sciences and is the author of publications on military police and stability policing.
He was promoted to Brigadier General in 2020.
He is married to Mrs. Emanuela Valdo and has two adult children, Marco and Camilla.
Brig. Gen. Paris decorations and awards include the Military Order of Italy.
